SIG's P320 has been a huge success. Not only with the military who adopted it as the M17 and M18 series, but with hundreds of law enforcement agencies and thousands of concealed carriers. SIG has thrown its full weight behind the gun and allowed users like me to pick and choose parts for our P320s to build our own. I did the same with my own P320C, C for compact.

The compact size of firearms we know today began with the Glock 19 and the SIG P228. The Glock 19 series quickly became the standard bearer for polymer-framed compact pistols. However, Glock has become a bit complacent, and the P320C may eat their lunch before they know it.
Width Comparison Between Glock 19 And Sig P320 Carry
Like the Glock 19, the P320C offers a compact pistol with a double-stack magazine and is large enough to fill a hand while remaining easy to conceal. Unlike the Glock 19, the P320 comes with full metal sights, a detailed Picatinny rail, a more ergonomic grip, and the ability to make it your own. Mine features a Custom Series slide with an optic mount and an X Series grip module with a Legion Series trigger.
Being able to pick and choose your components puts the P320C above most guns in its price range.
At the heart of the P320C and P320 series, in general, is the FCU. The fire control unit is part of the officially approved P320 firearm. This little fella has the serial number and gives shooters the ability to jump between guns and frames. I can replace my P320C with a full size P320 with parts and I can easily order online.
This allows for modularity beyond any other pistol that I currently know. It allowed me to buy my own dream P320C and it could allow you to do the same. The P320C comes standard with metal night sights, two magazines and multiple configurations.

The gun weighs 25.8 ounces, is 7.2 inches long, 1.3 inches wide, 5.3 inches high and has a 3.9 inch barrel. It is a compact pistol that is easy to conceal but is still a fully capable combat pistol. It can run a full size light on its Picatinny rail and, as you can see, is a perfect host for optics.
If you're not a fan of the Glock grip angle, fear not. The P320C has a more American grip angle just like the 1911. While this is a personal preference, it gives me a more ergonomic grip. At the rear, we have a nice beavertail that encourages a high choked grip for maximum control.
Under the throttle, we have a nice undercut to support that high grip. It is a comfortable pistol to hold and fits both large and small hands well.
The controls are simple. The slide release is classic SIG. This means it's easy to reach but very easy to pin when you're shooting and render something useless. It's vague, which is nice, acceptable. The magazine publication is easily accessible and reversible but not intrusive.

In my hands, this is the most accurate compact pistol on the market. Once I added the red dot, it got better. The P320C gives me the ability to ring an 8 inch gong at 50 yards with no problem. The Legion trigger offers a very flat and crisp trigger that slides into a small wall at the rear followed by a smooth break.
Speaking of speed, I switched to the 10-10-10 drill and smoked it unheated. The 10-10-10 drill is ten rounds eleven yards in ten seconds on a B8 target. I did it with them all, not just in black, but in seven seconds on my first run in ring 9. From there, I saw my times drop to mere slips of a second while maintaining excellent accuracy.
A great trigger, optics and ergonomics give the P320C an edge in this configuration. However, the stock P320C can also shoot straight. These features help the shooter eliminate human error, but if the core of the gun is flawed, they are not as useful.
Oh, this is a big problem that will cause the weapon to fail faster. If it doesn't work, accuracy, ergonomics etc are completely useless. So does the P320C work? Well, in my many hundreds of rounds downrange, I can happily say, yes, it does.

Besides me, the US Army tortures guns quite a lot, as do dozens of police forces across the country. It would be dangerous to say that it is quite reliable.
The SIG P320C offers a more refined compact pistol. It is user-adjustable, very accurate, reliable and now the choice of the US military in the form of the M18 series. If you want a better Glock 19, the P320C is the way to go.

Ford vs. Chevy and Coke vs. Pepsi have nothing on the Glock 19 vs. Sig P320. In the weapons and strategic community, this debate is intense. This is a battle of two of the best guns in the modern semi-auto polymer pistol series.
Some of the most heated arguments I've ever seen involve enthusiasts trying to convince someone why their choice for the best gun is the right answer. It can be very funny to watch. The debate between the Glock 19 vs the Sig P320 is one of the most common debates I see. It's a debate in my own house too.
As a civilian firearms instructor, I am often asked "What is the best pistol and what should I buy?" Let me set the record straight now and lay down some ground rules. If someone states that their choice is the best, and only "best", feel free to tune them beyond that point. In this community, if someone ever reveals your way, the “only way” is to duck and run for cover. Crawl out of there as fast as you can. Or smoke pop and leave your current location with extreme haste. Just some professional, friendly advice.
Glock 19 Versus Sig P320: Which Gun Wins This Epic Battle?
Many years ago, when the United States When the Army announced that it was finally launching a competition for a new sidearm to replace the old Beretta M92, the stage was set for an epic battle. Fast forward to the two finalists and major contenders: Glock and Sig were the obvious options. By all accounts, it was a close contest and probably not an easy choice for the Army (cost aside).
Long story short, the Sig won. They were selected as the overall "best value" for the Army and truly met the requirements for a modular or adaptable firearm system. Sig Sauer won the $580 million contract and will install 300,000 units over 10 years. Glock, a workhorse and also a proven standard in the tactical community, offered the Glock 19x - an update to the venerable Glock 19. It offered a new barrel and essentially became a Glock 19 on a Glock 17 frame, with room for two more after to add. In the end, perhaps what hurt Glock was the fact that they only tried to upgrade the Glock 19, while Sig offered the new P320. Glock challenged the results of the competition and Sig's victory. The government upheld the award and threw out Glock's challenge.
Glock's strategy was to allow their reputation to carry them, but in doing so, did not meet the modular requirements of the competition. Sig, however, has created something truly unique in the firearms space. The fact that the grips/frames are modular and interchangeable in size makes the gun very attractive to the Army (and Marines) as it can accommodate many people with different hands.
