Glock Smith Wesson - The Glock G45 and Smith & Wesson M&P 9 2.0 Compact are two of the most popular handguns on the market. There is a reason for this. They are both fantastic. But is one better than the other? Technically, no... but personally, yes. Let's find out why.

Both are highly recommended by two people I respect: former colleague Ben Brown carries the G45 as his EDC. In his review, he says the G45 is the bell no one is asking for. In fact, it was sought after and became an integral part of the bell. When it was on the market in 2018, it was a surprise for many people. Basically, it combines the best of both worlds - a G19 barrel and slide with a G17 grip. Ironically, it is now considered by many to be possibly the best bell ever made.

Best Handgun For Beginners & Home Defense [2023]

The M&P 9 was recommended by another friend of mine named Rod Ryan. He is a former LEO and trains both law enforcement and the military. He had an M&P since his EDC.I shoot with him in 2017 and he spoke highly of his M&P.

It has been around since 2005 and was originally designed for the military and police, hence the name M&P. Since then it has become a favorite among those who like a strong, reliable and accurate hand.

The G45 and M&P seem to have found the sweet spot in terms of specs, value, look and feel. (Photo: Ben Phillippi/)

Both 9mm handguns are very similar in terms of MSRP, specs and 17+1 round capacity. The M&P is two ounces heavier than the G45 at 26.7 ounces unloaded. The barrel on the M&P is a quarter of an inch longer at 4.25 inches. But both are about the same overall length of 7.4. inches The width and height of both firearms are about the same, 1.3 inches and 5.5 inches respectively.

One thing I will note is that as a result of my two tests from the Certified Used section of the website, the G45 was installed with a set of Trijicon Bright & Toughsights from the previous owner. These opinions are stunning and may have slightly influenced the outcome of this review. The M&P came with stock sights that worked well out of the box. Also, both of them are stock.

As they look very similar on paper, both felt very similar in hand. The biggest difference right away is the texture of the dust on the M&P. It is much more aggressive and I like it a lot. I felt as if the Glock could use more grip texture.

The controls are very similar and I found them to be robust. The slide is printed on both sides. Journal publication is subject to both returns. Both have the same camera specs, but in slightly different places. They both have front spots which I like. I found the Glock's recoil spring to be stiffer than the S&W's, making it harder to control presses and making the slide a little more difficult.

Literally A Glock

After putting 250 rounds of Federal 115 grain 9mm ammo in each gun, they both performed flawlessly. But this is where personal preferences come into play.

At 15 yards I shot a little better with the bell. I'm not sure why - I just did. Maybe it was the improved sights, but I don't think so. It just felt a little better in my hand. Maybe it's a result of the shape and size of my hands.

I will say that I am not a fan of the triggers on any gun. They have many things to desire. They were long and thick. If I was able to slow down my shot and get the trigger on the wall and then follow through with my shot, my accuracy was very acceptable. However, quickly shooting from the ready, long trigger took a toll on my accuracy.

Many exercises will be useful here. Ben Brown shoots very accurately with his G45 with the stock trigger. But Rod Ryan upgraded his M&P to an Apex trigger.

You can't go wrong with any gun. Both performed flawlessly. It's more of a personal decision. (Photo: Ben Filippi/)

What's great about the G45 and the M&P is that there are tons of aftermarket parts available. I personally don't like to buy guns that I have to immediately spend money on to improve, but it is nice to be able to "perfect" them.

That said, both of them could certainly benefit from some mods. As I mentioned, Rod Ryan upgraded his M&P trigger. Ben Brown running RMR on his G45. I will probably build both of these mods myself. And if I were to choose a bell, I would add more grip text.

Note that if you want to add RMR to ETER D, be sure to buy the latest optic model.

I can't say that one gun is better than the other. Both are fantastic options and I'm sure you'll be happy with either. But for my personal update, the bell came out a little higher. That being said, I recommend trying a gun before you buy it. Find a friend with the model you're looking for, or you can just hire one in your local area. The most important feature of any firearm, especially a gun, is reliability. An everyday gun is used more in emergency situations than others, and once drawn it should work flawlessly, every time. The Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Compact recently set a new standard for reliability, with one gun recently firing two thousand rounds without a single mishap.

The rise of the Glock and other nine-millimeter high-capacity polymer-framed handguns in the 1980s and 1990s excited the famous Smith & Wesson company. A company known for revolvers, but less so for pistols, has been caught. The company's first pistol, the Sigma, was introduced in 1994, but failed to reach the same level of popularity as other "Wonder Nines" of the era.

The Smith & Wesson M&P series is the company's second-generation polymer-framed pistol, and has been significantly more successful than the company's previous offering, which was a re-stocked SD. Designed for "military and police", the M&P is also available in the civilian market and is available in full, compact and subcompact sizes in calibers from .22 LR to the powerful .45 ACP. One firearms and ammunition blog rhetorically asks if the M&P Compact is "the best carry gun ever," stating that it has the best qualities of a combat pistol: "reliable action, efficient caliber, controlled recoil and good capacity." Ammunition.

Introduced in 2017, the M&P 2.0 is the first major redesign of the M&P. The M&P is a bolt-action pistol that uses a striker rod to fire the weapon instead of the traditional hammer and firing pin. Rounding with a half-drawn scope, he lowers the gun, raises it all the way when he pulls the trigger, and then releases the striker and fires the gun. This means that even after the slide is engaged, the striker-fired rifle cannot accidentally fire without pulling the trigger, a measure that proponents say increases overall safety. Advocates argue that this makes it a safer gun to carry a round in the chamber and that it can be fired more quickly than other guns.

The M&P 2.0 Compact is in the same general class as the Glock 19 nine-millimeter compact. The nine millimeter version has an internal magazine capacity of fifteen rounds and one in the chamber, for a total of sixteen rounds. The barrel is 3.6 inches long and has a one in ten inch twist rate, making the heavy nine millimeter round more stable than the previous 1 in 18.75 inch twist.

Unlike the Glock, the M&P 2.0 Compact has a stainless steel chassis that covers the Zytel frame to prevent flexing during shooting. The gun's frame and exterior metal parts are treated with the company's proprietary Armorite corrosion-resistant coating, which gives it a subdued, black appearance. Finger safety adds another layer of protection against careless disposal.

The Smith & Wesson Compact Nine is also designed to be more comfortable to shoot, allowing the shooter to focus on accuracy. The 2.0 Compact has an 18-degree grip angle for a natural aim, and the short barrel axis reduces barrel rise due to recoil and helps ensure more accurate bullet tracking. The pistol features an aggressive texture over the grip and four different palm attachments for a custom fit to the owner's unique hand.

Glock Smith Wesson

Above all, the M&P 2.0 Compact is extremely reliable. In the long test, the American rifleman put 2,016 rounds, primarily 124 Sig Sauer balls, through the gun without a single misfire. The gun was cleaned twice, once before testing and
