Glock 17 Drum Magpul - At Tyrant Designs, one of our favorite platforms to work on, be creative, and produce new products is the Glock pistol. It has been recognized worldwide for its reliability and is similar to "Legos" for adults in its ease of finishing, cleaning, modifying and working with. Many competitors, law enforcement and shooting enthusiasts choose Glocks so we chose to provide a quality upgrade to the platform to enhance the shooting experience. Not surprisingly, there are many other quality manufacturers that also make aftermarket accessories. One notable company is Magpul and they have debuted a 50-round 9mm Glock Drum for the G17, or full size Glock 9mm pistol.
While we produce phenomenal magazine extensions for factory Glock magazines, sometimes you just feel like dumping a literal box of ammo in time for the fun and stress relief of a good old dump. The reason it's exciting news to see Magpul produce one of these is because they are no strangers to drum magazines. They have been making reliable drum magazines for a number of other firearms and models for years. The drum body is basically a universal component now for Magpul because they ironed it out so well. What they need to be able to make the perfect drum magazine for the Glock 17 is the "turret" drum mag, or the part that actually attaches to the frame of the Glock. The turret may be the most important component of the drum magazine because it ensures proper seat of the magazine to the firearm, reliable feeding of cartridges from the magazine to the chamber, and it is also an important point that the magazine can. is correctly released if empty.

The D-50 GL9 - GLOCK has many of the proven features of the previous 5.56 and 7.62, PMAG D-60® AR/M4 and PMAG D-50®. LR / SR GEN M3®, while the user gets the same increased magazine capacity. The unique drum configuration provides a 50-round capacity and keeps the magazine organized, allowing for easier storage. For ease of loading, it includes a detent loading lever that removes tension from the inner spring.

The D-50 GL9 is easy to disassemble for cleaning and has an innovative bolt release feature. The D-50 GL9 reliably locks the bolt in the blank when used with firearms designed to relock GLOCK pattern magazine followers.
We recommend installing a new OEM magazine release on Gen 1-3 GLOCK pistols to support the extra weight of the magazine. Gen 4 GLOCK pistols require an aftermarket metal magazine version. Installation of a new recoil spring to ensure reliable feeding is highly recommended. Individual variations between firearms may result in an additional recoil spring being required.

The use of this D-50 GL9 in a carbine caliber pistol (PCC) is not recommended, as the increased length of the feed turret will be partially unsupported in most Wells caliber pistol magazines. This unsupported condition can cause premature wear of the feed turret magazine catch and (on firearms that deviate from factory magazine well specifications) can cause incorrect round presentation and failure to feed.
