Aircraft maintenance schools train students to become aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs), an FAA title governing aircraft maintenance. Another common name for aircraft mechanics is Airframe & Powerplant (A&P). These technicians are trained to maintain and repair planes and aircraft to comply with FAA regulations. It also has the authority to inspect aircraft, supervise maintenance, perform preventive maintenance, and make changes to aircraft and aircraft systems. Epic is proud to be selected by the FAA to offer an aircraft maintenance school at the Flight School at New Smyrna Beach Airport.
There are two ways to recognize a student's ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to become an aircraft mechanic. Practical experience or completion of an educational program at a FAR Part 147 accredited school. Epic's program is Part 147 approved by the FAA.
Each course lasts approximately 4 months, so the entire aircraft maintenance program will take approximately 19 months to complete. To do this, you must attend school from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday). Each course requires 450 instructional hours.
So, in a relatively short period of time, you will be qualified to work for any airline. New classes start every 3 months.

Tuition is $30,000 ($6,000 per course) and includes books, materials, toolkits and toolboxes, and three FAA written exams. Once approved, there is an application fee of $145. At the end of the program, there will be an FAA oral exam and a FAA practical exam. The total cost is $1,050. Best of all, we disclose all expenses up front so you can plan accordingly. Total cost: $31,195.
Full tuition fees are not paid in advance. Instead, you pay $6,000 per course as you progress through the program. First semester tuition is payable when signing registration papers. After that, fees will be charged one week prior to the start of classes for the following semester. You must receive these payments. You can also get financing through student loans.
