Scar 16s Price - FN SCAR 16S Carbine Earns a High Price Tag: My AR is one of my favorite rifles in my collection, so I'm giving the FN Scar 16S a rating until I have a chance to fire it. It's definitely more expensive, but I found a reason why special forces in the US military like to use it.
For starters, some of the best things about the FN SCAR 16S are its great features. The flame selector and magazine release are large enough that I can easily use them with gloves on, and I highly recommend wearing them as the trigger heats up quickly.

The good news is, after 100 rounds of testing, I haven't had a single jam, jam, or magazine feed issue, no matter how hot it got. I also like that the trigger guard is big enough to fit a glove, because they know how hot it gets when they designed it.
Best Fn Scar 17 Scopes & Optics (2022 Tested & Updated)
All of these features are built to be awesome, but don't get in the way of me shooting. I will say that the charging handle can pinch your finger into the optics if you're not careful, but it wasn't an issue for me the first time around.
For test shooting, I fell in love. I have 2 spreads at 100 yards and it doesn't change much at 300 or 400 yards, though I need to use the optics for the purpose. It was then that I noticed the charging handle's distance.
One thing that stood out was how easy it was to separate and clean the stain, as I did it in just a few minutes. I can also adjust the folding buttstock and cheek rest to be completely comfortable in my firing position, and they hold that adjustment the entire time.
223 rounds lack the recoil that I noticed, thanks in large part to the muzzle brake on the Scar. Between that and the fact that the rifle is just over 7 pounds, it's easy to carry around. 4 Picatinny rails let me mount the holographic sights and grip without a problem.
Fn Scar® Carbon Handguard
I also like the gas piston combustion system because it reduces gas release, but also reduces carbon buildup so I don't have to clean it. It works with my R magazine, but avoid using the PMag Gen II as it will damage your scar.
One thing I don't like about the SCAR is the price, because $3,300 is a lot. While you can rarely find a gun in the same vein, they won't be of the same quality or durability that this rifle brings to the table. FN SCAR: Yes, value for money...
After 100 rounds on the range, it's no wonder military members love the FN Scar 16S tactical carbine. I personally like this as much or more as my AR, from handling to accuracy and recoil management, so if you have the money I can't recommend Scar enough.
