Scar 16s Fde - The FN SCAR 16S Carbine Earns Its High Price: My AR is one of my favorite rifles in my collection, so I've reserved my opinion on the FN Scar 16S until I've had a chance to shoot it. It's definitely more expensive, but I learned why US special forces like to use it.
For starters, some of the best features of the FN SCAR 16S are its wider features. The fire selector and magazine release are large enough that I can easily use them while wearing gloves, and I highly recommend wearing them because the scar heats up quite quickly.

The good news is that even after 100 rounds of testing, I didn't have a single misfire, jam, or magazine issue, no matter how hard it got. I also liked that the trigger guard is big enough to accommodate gloves because they knew how hot it would get when they designed it.

All of these features are designed for two-person use, but they didn't get in the way when I was shooting. I will say that the charging handle can pinch your fingers against the optics if you're not careful, but it wasn't a problem after the first time for me.
As far as test shooting goes, I fell in love. I had an internal spread of 2 inches at 100 yards and it didn't change much at 300 or even 400 yards, although I had to use the optic for those targets. Then I noticed a gap between the charging handle.
One thing that stood out was how easy the Scar was to disassemble and clean, because I did it in a matter of minutes. I was also able to adjust the folding stock and cheek rest to be completely comfortable in my shooting position, and they held that adjustment the entire time.
The .223 cartridges had no recoil that I noticed, mostly due to the muzzle brake on the Scar. Considering the rifle weighs just over 7 pounds, it was easy to maneuver. 4 Picatinny rails allow you to put on the holographic sight and grab it without any problems.

I also liked the gas piston ignition system because it reduced gas emissions but also reduced carbon build-up so I didn't have to clean it as much. It works with my AR mags, but avoid using Gen II PMags because they will break your rifling.
The only thing I don't like about the SCAR is the price, because $3300 is pretty high. While you can find guns of this type for less, they will not have the same quality and durability that this rifle brings. FN SCAR: Yes, worth the money…
After 100 rounds through the range, it's no wonder the military loves the FN Scar 16S Tactical Carbine. Personally, I love it as much or even more than my AR, from handling to accuracy to recoil control, so if you have the money, I can't recommend the Scar enough.

The SCAR 16s is one of the coolest rifles to hit the market in a long time. The style only extends to the rifle. I think it's worth noting that the SCAR line of rifles is incredibly popular in movies and video games because it's a nice looking rifle. My test model is in FDE and the fit and finish is impressive. Everything looks great out of the box. Even the FDE blade.
The SCAR is a lightweight semi-automatic rifle that uses a short-stroke gas piston. Because of this, the weapon runs extremely clean and relatively cool. My first impression of the rifle was that this thing is light. It's not the lightest rifle out of the box, but considering it has what is basically a quad rail, it's pretty light. Compared to my 556R, it's a feather. The rifle is very well balanced with most of the weight in the center of the rifle.
Val looks like an ugg but works like a champ. Now you will never see an Ugg boot again. Action does three different things. First, it collapses like any good modern stock. This makes it easy to adjust the rifle to armor or gear. Then it is deployed. This makes the rifle much easier to travel with. During Hurricane Hermine, the SCAR 16S traveled light in an unwieldy duffel bag. At least until we reach our final destination to drive through it all. The collapsible stock also makes it much easier to deploy the weapon from the vehicle in a tactical situation. Finally, stocks rose sharply. Not all optics are at the same height.

The lower receiver is polymer. This reduces weight but allows the weapon to maintain structural strength. Standard M16A2 style grip, comfortable and easy to mass produce. It's also a proven grip size for troops of all hand sizes. The safety is very simple, S for safety and 1 for single shot. It is also ambidextrous. Rifle builders are taking note. Next, we have a magazine issue. It is also ambidextrous. The issue of the magazine is also quite massive. Very easy to use. It is aggressively checkered and easy to feel in the dark. Even with gloves, the magazine release is easy to touch and activate with both hands.
The shutter does not happen with two hands. Surprisingly, the shutter release is not actually necessary. The charging handle is the easiest way to loosen the bolt.
The trigger is where the rifle is made. For a semi-automatic defensive rifle, the trigger is certainly acceptable. First of all, the trigger is very well made. The pull is standard military weight, it's not a feather. The trigger is clean though. The trigger is perfect. There is no gravel and there is no fungus in it. The trigger breaks. The reset is very audible and easy to feel. If Glock perfected the pistol reset in terms of tactile and audible reset, the SCAR did it for rifles.

The most obvious feature of the SCAR 16 upper receiver is the bolt handle. The shutter handle is not actually dual action. It can easily be replaced by left-handed or right-handed users. The bolt handle moves back and forth when firing. Some consider this a drawback, but I didn't. This may be due to my experience with AK platforms. With the magnified optics, I could definitely see that the weapon was a bit difficult to place. You can break knuckles depending on where the scope mount lands.
I placed the red dot in the center of the scope rail, directly above the charging handle. Disregarding my grip, I quickly charged the weapon, scraping her knuckle. This was corrected by placing a red dot on the back of the scope. The full length of the top rail is a solid piece. This makes it easy to mount different optics on the weapon. This includes the primary optics, magnifier or night vision or heat clamp on the device.
One thing I hate is when a premium rifle doesn't come with a scope from the factory. Notably, the SCAR 16s comes with an excellent pair of folding sights. They are well built and feature two holes in the fine A2 tradition. They are easy to adjust and stay reset.
The SCAR 16s is a modern rifle. That is why it is covered with a Picatinny rail. The front panel has plenty of room for any accessory you can imagine. The four-tier rail has room for flashlights, lasers, vertical grips, or anything else you want to hang on your rifle.
